Altomincio Campsite Italy
Altomincio Campsite in Italy (by lake Garda) is a lovely campsite with around 700 pitches (caravans/cabins). You can book to stay here using Canvas, Vacancy Soleil, Eurocamp, Suncamp or direct with the Italian Human company. There may also be other companies that sell pitches on this site so it will pay dividends to do your research. The official address is: Altomincio Family Park, Località Torrente Valle, 10, Str. Salionze, di, 37067 Valeggio sul Mincio VR, Italy.
There are a few ways and prices to book so make sure you check out all options. Altomincio is a pedestrianised site. Upon check in you are directed where to park your car and then given directions to your pitch. It is more than likely that you will be offered a lift in one of their electric buggies.
How to get to Altomincio Campsite
If you are travelling by plane it would take around 2 hours from Milan Malpensa Airport and about 25 minutes from Verona (VRN) Airport. That is, if you are hiring a car. If you are using public transport it will take around 3 hours from Milan Malpensa (MXP) and around an hour from Verona. Uber from Verona would be a good option. Once at the campsite you will have everything you need including the option to go on the organised day trips (for example Verona).
Rubber Rings for the slide
The pool is typically beautiful, especially when glistening against the sun on an August afternoon. The experience was made better when accompanied with a cool crisp larger (around 5 Euros). There is one large and long slide that goes from pool to pool in around 10 or so drops.

It is a little rough for little ones but lots of fun for older children and adults. There is also a smaller, more sedate slide which many younger children were using. The pool is shallow but lovely if you want to bob about sitting on a rubber ring. The central area has some tunnels and smaller slides. There is also a water inflated bouncing area that many children were enjoying. Rubber rings from the shop cost from 10 Euros and the air pump to inflate them is located just outside the shop. This shop is alongside the pool area.

Altomincio Restaurants
The main restaurant in the centre had mouth-watering food. I savoured every mouthful of the pesto pasta spending more than the usual time to complete my plate. The children’s menu was as you’d expect. A child’s meal is served within minutes. Children can be fed quickly and then go off and play nearby. The wine and staff are excellent. The meal we had from the restaurant at Altomincia park was one of the best meals we had in Italy during our entire 17 day trip.

Visit Verona
Verona is about 20 minutes drive away. We parked in APCOA parking lot called Piazza Cittadela (although I think that is Italian for parking). On Google maps it is also called Parcheggio Multipiano Cittadella. It is 2 minutes walk from the main Verona square. We passed an Aldi just outside the car park which could be handy (if we’d known) to buy supplies (water/snacks etc).
Accommodation
Our caravan had three bedrooms (a double and two twin rooms) a kitchen, lounge and a bathroom. It also had air conditioning which is a must when staying during August as the temperature can reach mid or high thirties.

Although at first the cabins seemed on top of each other they are laid out well and it felt as if you were part of a village. The Altomincia site definitely had a lovely atmosphere.
Altomincio Supermarket
The on-site supermarket is found easily once you understand the arrows by meandering through perfectly maintained pathways, trees and flowers. Being a pedestrianised site you would feel quite comfortable allowing younger children to go to the shop independently. The shop is more than adequate (about the size of a standard Lidl) with everything you would need from freshly made pasta to wine by the barrel. Wine can be purchased from barrels by buying a bottle (around 30 cents) and filling up (self service). For future top ups you can take the bottle back. This approach seems to be standard in Italian supermarkets. Fresh fruit is in abundance and I recommend trying the fresh pasta with freshly made Pesto. The tomatoes are amazing and nothing like the bland offerings in the United Kingdom.
Conclusion
I look forward to staying at this park again in the future. It had a lovely atmosphere and the Human Company (owners of the park) certainly kept the place ship shape. Bins were cleared, the site was cleaned and staff were friendly.
