Audi - Fuel Efficient?
Audi push more to the gallon
The Audi Q7 is a fantastic seven-seater eco-car that delivers fuel efficiency, (disclaimer alert !!! for a car of this size), versatility and style all at the same time. This model is available in a range of five different engines, three diesels and two petrol. This luxury crossover SUV is an ideal solution for parents who need to carry a family in style.
Current Purchase Price
The standard Audi Q7 model starts at £40,725, while the 4.2TDI S-Line model is available at £55,525.
Q7 Clean Diesel Technology
The diesel models use TDI commonrail technology, which electronically controls the amount of fuel injected into the engine. This reduces emissions as well as making the engine quieter, as combustion takes place at a lower temperature. The clean diesel technology is one of the best in the world, and reduces nitrogen oxygen emissions significantly by using a special additive.
Q7 Petrol Injection Technology
The petrol models use TFSI direct-injection technology, which uses supercharging to give the vehicle an extra boost of torque and power. This system carefully releases the right amount of petrol and air into the engine to save heat energy and reduce emissions. All models come with fuel-injection technology and an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, which reduces emissions and increases fuel economy.
Q7 Off-Roading
Features of the Q7 include rear acoustic parking, rear LED lights, and an optional HDD-based navigation system. There’s also a clever all-wheel drive system, which adjusts the grip of the wheels according to changes in the surface underneath them. This makes it ideal for off-roading on any terrain.
Q7 Clever Kinetic Energy Conversion
The Q7 is one of the most efficient seven-seaters on the market. It uses a recuperation system to convert kinetic energy generated by the brake discs into electrical energy to be stored in the battery. This energy is used to help power the alternator, which increases fuel efficiency by 3 per cent.
Aerodynamics help too
The aerodynamic shape of the Q7 also contributes to the efficiency. This model has been designed with optimum aerodynamics, and includes an adaptive air suspension system, which changes the suspension of the car according to the speed at which it is travelling. This means that the car becomes more aerodynamic when it’s used at high speeds, saving energy.
Stop Start Function – of course
It also has an automatic start-stop function, which switches the engine off when the car is stationary. This avoids wasting fuel and energy when stuck in traffic or waiting. The car automatically starts again when the brakes are released. There is also Side Assist technology, which automatically detects blind-spots and uses a warning system to alert the driver. The Q7also features a special music interface, which allows users to play an iPod or MP3 device through the main sound system.
Q7 interior roominess
The seven seat system means that there is enough room for a family, but it can be easily adapted to carry equipment. It comprises of three rows, the second and third of which can be split and folded down flat to free up space for loading. The interior is sleek and stylish, with a multi-functional leather steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear view mirror and cosmo cloth upholstery. The front seats are are fully adjustable sports seats.
